The College of Hotel and Restaurant Management (CHRM) held its 12th Fiesta Kulinarya Events and Competitions on March 7 and 8, 2018 at the SMC Higher Education Department Campus.

It was organized and successfully made possible by the CHRM Student Council with the guidance of the CHRM Dean Loreluz L. Estolloso, MSHRM, and through the participation of the HRM students. The event eventually aims to showcase and hone the culinary skills and talent of the HRM students through learning from the inspirational and promising talks and orientation of its speakers and joining its different kinds of activities. This has somehow molded their potential as HRM students and became a stepping-stone for them to be more equipped in terms of learning with practical application in culinary arts.

The first leg of the main event contains its set of seminars being held. The first part was about a talk on Russian Cuisine given by Dominic Michael Prete which was then followed by its hands-on orientation to the students. On the other hand, they also tackled and learned about cake decorating and so as well talked about cupcakes and pastries. The HRM students do not just merely listen and learn from the talk and orientation of the speakers for they are given the chance to apply and do what they have learned by themselves.

The third day of the event contains its main highlight which was the showcasing of talents by the HRM students through joining the set of friendly competitions between themselves. These competitions were the Cupcake Display and Dessert Buffet Display, Fruit and Vegetable Carving, Burger with Sides and Floral Arrangement, Live Cooking, House Keeping, Waiter’s Relay, Fruit and Vegetable Smoothie, Flaring and Cocktail Mixing, and Barbecue (Sales Challenge).

This event not only helped shape the HRM students in honing their craft and filled their knowledge through their experiences. It gave them the chance to convey and showcase their individuality and created a great camaraderie with their co-students and competitors. It also gave them natural fun while making their passion, their profession.

My SGV Internship Story By Rohaina Dansal While May 2022 was the best month for others like the CPALE passers, it was the contrary for me. I lost two of my loved ones within that month. On top of that, the month of May was the final weeks of our 2nd semester in 3rd year. Things were really busy with all the upcoming exams, research paper defense, and complying requirements. There was even no time to breathe because we had to proceed to our summer classes with full units. During summer classes, while my batchmates were already talking about their target agencies and offices for our OJT requirement in the next semester (August), I didn't even worry about it.  They say when you lose something, God replaces it with good things. During our summer classes, the in-charge professor for our OJT messaged our batch GC an invitation letter from SGV for their SGV NLIP 2022. He said anyone can try to apply on the given link but only 10 will be chosen from our school. Upon reading it, I ignored i...
