[SMC FEATURE] SMC-SHS Bench Cheering

Bench Cheering: A Dazzling Start This Year
By Rohaina Dansal

The excitement starts to veil the atmosphere. I take a sit on the center aisle while holding a pen, and felt the energy from side to side. The moment it had not yet started, I already felt the folks could not wait to witness the performance of these three sets of performing young stars.

After a few moments, the ambiance turns vivid as the noisy crowd starts to cheer their bet contenders.  Painting curve on my lips and expecting a great show from the performers, because I have the guts, that these talented young performers, although they differ in name, have always something great to showcase to everyone.

“Viva humanista, humanista!” enthuses the first set of performing stars, as they start performing and pitching rhythmic notes in front of my sight. They’re wearing their decent, bluish, royal, dim blue shirts and comfy pants matched with their pair of shoes. Their hands are coated with blue and white colors and their props are also with them. Two parallel columns of propsmen surround the bench cheerers, holding blue and white balloons. Some are holding their banners and some are dancing with the bench cheerers as the show is going on. The show just smoothly goes until it marks its end. I stopped tickling my pen and just enjoyed and focused my vision on the performers in front of me.

“Laban ABM, hugyaw ABM,” another contender of performing young stars followed to march towards the center spot. They’re also wearing their decent, bluish, royal, dim blue shirts and comfy pants matched with their pair of white shoes. The hairs of the girls were uniformly braided and their hands were coated with yellow and black colors. Their props are also with them. Some are holding the props and dancing with the performers. The scene where they got to blindfold their eyes also surprised me. And yes, it was a bubbly and frolic performance as they just went with the flow and beat of their cheers.

“Let’s go SMC, let’s go STEM,” and the last contender of performing young stars also starts to showcase what they’ve got. Like the other performers, they’re also wearing again their decent, bluish, royal, dim blue shirts and comfy pants matched with their pair of shoes. Yes, their hands are also coated with black and blue colors and their props are also with them. Some are holding their props and some are dancing with the bench cheerers. Their screams are as loud as the beat of their snare drum. I have also seen the message they are trying to communicate during their performance. And they leave a remarkable performance to everyone.

I take a deep sigh after all the performance of the contenders. It’s arduous stuff to choose whose gonna be the outstanding bench cheerers. I am just sitting and watching them. I naturally smiled and felt mesmerized after the performances. Anyway, it’s a refreshing and dazzling start to this academic year. Thank God, I’m not the judge.

[STORY] My SGV Internship Experience

My SGV Internship Story By Rohaina Dansal While May 2022 was the best month for others like the CPALE passers, it was the contrary for me. I lost two of my loved ones within that month. On top of that, the month of May was the final weeks of our 2nd semester in 3rd year. Things were really busy with all the upcoming exams, research paper defense, and complying requirements. There was even no time to breathe because we had to proceed to our summer classes with full units. During summer classes, while my batchmates were already talking about their target agencies and offices for our OJT requirement in the next semester (August), I didn't even worry about it.  They say when you lose something, God replaces it with good things. During our summer classes, the in-charge professor for our OJT messaged our batch GC an invitation letter from SGV for their SGV NLIP 2022. He said anyone can try to apply on the given link but only 10 will be chosen from our school. Upon reading it, I ignored i...
