It was about an hour before brillig when excitement started to veil the atmosphere. The four-cornered venue was filled with a massive crowd, with some bringing and waving banners to support their bet contenders. The moment it started, the ambiance turned hotter as the noisy crowd started to cheer and spread positive energy along the gymnasium.

The reason for all the excitement felt was the first ever Street Jam, an event composed of a dance concert by the one who initiated the event and one of the Iligan’s pride, the Street Movers. At the same time, it also features a Campus Dance Clash between the different participating schools.

Each group was able to showcase what they’ve got as they conquered the stage, bringing the name of their school, and performing the result of their hard work and determination. SMC Archangels and SMC Titans made the ambiance more intense as they always slay the stage with their passion and confidence in dancing. They danced with precision while doing intricate and delicate motions and movements that left the crowd amazed.

After the meaningful dance clash of all the different schools, garnering an average score of 89.34 and 88.00, SMC Archangels won the 1st place and the SMC Titans won the 3rd place during the said event at MSU-IIT gymnasium on July 21, 2018.

Before joining the competition, the coach of SMC Archangels needs to divide the group into two for them to be able to meet the qualifications of the contest by having at least eight members each. And it was then that the SMC Titans initiated and formed, just for this kind of event.

The SMC Archangels were composed of Anna Faye Jaylo, Necolizle Quindo, Jan Erica Lumpaz, Rhea Cagulada, Edkley Gutierrez, Regine Suarez, and Portia Bering. On the other hand, the SMC Titans were composed of Angeleah Mae Zerna, Joe Tagaytay, Girleen Faye Naingue, Angela Ramiro, Janreeve De Luna, and Kevin Cabusas.

When one of their members was asked about their experience, they savored the moment by knowing the fact that some of them were in Grade 12, which means, it would be their last year to join such dance competitions as Archangels.

“I felt overwhelmed, happy, sad, or mixed in emotions thinking that it would be our last year as Archangels because some of us are graduating students. We have been through a lot of experiences. We have shared happy or sad moments together, and we have made memorable moments to cherish along with our whole journey as a student, a dancer, and as a person. Aside from that, we have improved as individuals, and we have also learned from each other’s experiences. It’s complicated how we divide our time and body to comply with our responsibilities in school, at home, and on the dance floor. But it just depends on us on how we were able to manage our time.”

When asked as well what the next step for SMC Archangels was, she answered, “As far as I know for this year, there were still upcoming competitions that we are interested in and about to join such as the Crissa, Ego, and Danztrack. As of now, Danztrack is supposed to be our last contest, but if ever there’s an opportunity to join other competitions, then we will grab that opportunity.”

SMC Archangels never cease to give honor and pride to Saint Michael’s College as they were able to practice the core values of the school through their passionate practices down to their performances on stage, and achieving their goals. They’ve manifested an image of how truly talented are Michaelites. They were molded and shaped by their willingness, practices, pain, and passion.

[STORY] My SGV Internship Experience

My SGV Internship Story By Rohaina Dansal While May 2022 was the best month for others like the CPALE passers, it was the contrary for me. I lost two of my loved ones within that month. On top of that, the month of May was the final weeks of our 2nd semester in 3rd year. Things were really busy with all the upcoming exams, research paper defense, and complying requirements. There was even no time to breathe because we had to proceed to our summer classes with full units. During summer classes, while my batchmates were already talking about their target agencies and offices for our OJT requirement in the next semester (August), I didn't even worry about it.  They say when you lose something, God replaces it with good things. During our summer classes, the in-charge professor for our OJT messaged our batch GC an invitation letter from SGV for their SGV NLIP 2022. He said anyone can try to apply on the given link but only 10 will be chosen from our school. Upon reading it, I ignored i...
