[MSU NEWS] MSU-Main Dialogue on Security Matters

First-Ever Dialogue on Security Matters By Rohaina Dansal Photo by MSU-OIPP  A first-ever dialogue on security matters and ensuring the safety of students was held on October 28, 2019, at the Dimaporo Gymnasium, MSU Main Campus, Marawi City. The dialogue was organized by the Supreme Student Government (SSG) as a result of the students’ concern for their security and safety after the fatal shooting incident of a freshman student on the premises of the Mindanao State University (MSU) Main campus on October 17, 2019. The sudden death of a freshman student shook the stable stay of the MSUans within the premises of the university, especially, the non-Muslim students. [FEATURE STORY] Senior High: A Blessing in Disguise

A Blessing in Disguise By Rohaina Dansal Photo by Ma'am Grace Torion The bright stars were about to flee but would be back again to give hope in the dim starry night. The majestic sun has awakened, and the fluffy clouds started to unveil their lightness from the atmosphere. The birds sang mellifluously, creating melodic tunes. The roosters crowed, trying to awaken the folks in reality. The wind placidly raged, making the leaves of trees dance along with their natural gentle motions. It was an exquisite, ideal morning for every creature except for some, particularly, the senior high school students.  I spent most of my life with students. That’s why my heart felt a sense of cozy connection with them, though they break my heart sometimes. It’s 7:00 AM, and I come early again before the students. I know they’re rushing on their way to reach school. I know they always get holdup from this perennial traffic in the middle of the city, that’s why I can assure you that some of t...

Every single pulse of the students’ heartbeat is turning vague and unusual, causing their red flushing blood to pump anxiously and stream rapidly within the blood vessels of their body.  Some can feel the perspiration on their face, raging directly into their school uniforms, announcing their fear. Who will not feel more unc...

[SMC FEATURE] SMC-SHS Bench Cheering

Bench Cheering: A Dazzling Start This Year By Rohaina Dansal Photo by Kevin Photography The excitement starts to veil the atmosphere. I take a sit on the center aisle while holding a pen, and felt the energy from side to side. The moment it had not yet started, I already felt the folks could not wait to witness the performance of these three sets of performing young stars. After a few moments, the ambiance turns vivid as the noisy crowd starts to cheer their bet contenders.  Painting curve on my lips and expecting a great show from the performers, because I have the guts, that these talented young performers, although they differ in name, have always something great to showcase to everyone. “Viva humanista, humanista!” enthuses the first set of performing stars, as they start performing and pitching rhythmic notes in front of my sight. They’re wearing their decent, bluish, royal, dim blue shirts and comfy pants matched with their pair of shoes. Their hands are coated...

The four-cornered venue was filled with a massive crowd, with some bringing and waving banners to support their bet contenders. The moment it started, the ambiance turned hotter as the noisy crowd started to cheer and spread positive energy along the gymnasium. The reason for all the excitement felt was the first ever Street Jam, an event composed of a dance concert by the one who initiated the event and one of the Iligan’s pride, the Street Movers.
